WDG provided structural engineering services for this bespoke barn-style garage and loft extension in Courtmacsherry, Co. Cork, designed for a private client. The project combines traditional agricultural-inspired architecture with modern structural design to create a versatile and visually striking ancillary building.
Our scope of services included the design of the building foundations and the complete structural steel superstructure, incorporating a suspended first-floor room and a distinctive barrel-vaulted roof structure. We also designed the internal staircase to provide access to the loft accommodation.
Following the detailed structural design, WDG prepared comprehensive construction drawings and technical documentation to support the construction phase. Throughout the build, we carried out site inspections to review progress, monitor construction quality, and ensure that the works were completed in accordance with the design intent.
